What Hopeline Achieved

The National Hopeline Network (NHN) is the first suicide hotline network in the world. Prior to 1998 there was no national toll free hotline that connected to crisis centers that were certified. In a short seven years the NHN has grown from 10 calls a day to over 1,000 calls a day.

Since 1998, when the NHN went live over 1,930,000 calls have been routed to local community crisis centers.

Over 10 million pieces of literature bear the number and name of the National Hopeline Network. It has been listed in every major newspaper from news, features, op-ed and editorials such as the San Francisco Chronicle, NY Times, Washington Post and LA Times. It has been the focal point for the annual rock tours Warped Tour; Take Action Tour and this year Ozz Fest. Over 100,000 CD’s with our number and literature/resources have been sold across the US.

1-800-SUICIDE has been featured on MTV, MTV2, VH1, Fox Family Channel, HBO, Lifetime TV, BET, Oprah, Americas Most Wanted, OC, Boston Public and Nickelodeon.
